Local government awards provide an important
opportunity to acknowledge local achievers for their outstanding
contribution.

For the 79 Councils in Victoria, they are also a major feature of
their Australia Day celebrations.

Awards are presented by local government organisations to citizens
and groups in recognition of outstanding achievement and contribution
to the community. In most instances, municipalities will select
their local Australia Day Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of
the Year and Community Event of the Year.
Winners receive a certificate on Australia Day and are chosen by
community and Council representatives.
Nominations for Local Government Australia Day Awards are advertised
through the media.
For further information about the awards contact your local Council.
