Looking for a way to recognise a student's initiative and endeavour?
Why not try the Aussie of the Month program - a primary school based program, coordinated by Australia Day Committee (Victoria).
To receive an award students don't have to win any races, or sit any exams. The award is designed to encourage children to be proud of themselves,
their school and to understand the responsibilities and rewards of community participation.
Different schools, have different ways, to determine which student receives the award. It may be the principal, class teacher or the students
who develop the criteria.
Each month a child is chosen as the school's Aussie of the Month and is presented with a badge and a certificate. As the month draws to a
close, a new winner is selected and the badge is passed onto them.
Several thousand awards are presented to students each month at schools all around Australia. More than 300 Victorian primary schools are
currently participating in the program.
